The Academy of Beauty at West Suffolk College houses an impressive selection of courses for anyone kickstarting their career in hairdressing, beauty therapy, nail technology, makeup artistry or barbering. Choose from a range of full time diplomas, part time courses and apprenticeships for learning whilst earning a wage on the job.

In November 2023 West Suffolk College hosted a ‘Concept Hair Road show, along with a showcase of talent from Beauty, Nail and Make Up Students.  This event allowed the students to upgrade their hairdressing skills, and their beauty students to demonstrate their therapeutic talent. The Academy of Beauty has recently heavily invested in the renovation of the 2 key beauty salons at the college.  Providing a tranquil, contemporary and modern concept to mirror the ambience of a spa.  Two large beauty classrooms/salons have had a new interior to reflect a professional, current and fluid learning environment that would be the envy of many training establishments nationwide.

West Suffolk College never stands still.  Offering a quality education affiliated with ‘world skills’, this college is truly a feather in the East Anglian cap.  Spa Director of Weavers’ House Spa- Alexandra Hurt was invited to officiate the opening of the new beauty rooms due to her ongoing support and endorsement of the beauty therapy courses offered by the academy.  Alexandra has fostered a close working relationship with the college, supporting local education to amplify learning ‘spa industry standards’ within a learning environment.  Attending every term or more frequently, Weavers’ House Spa Director is hands on in sharing spa knowledge with the therapists of tomorrow.

Alexandra shares, “I truly believe by igniting the passion and enthusiasm for the spa industry, we can help and support people throughout their life in improving overall mental and physical well-being.  The Spa industry offers trade based career opportunity worldwide in some sublime locations. “

Alexandra and senior therapists within the Weavers’ House Spa team work with the student directly upskilling consultation, sales, contraindication training, along with skills labs in facials, holistic head massage and body massage. This consistent local support only strengthens the bond between education and industry to provide an ‘authentic’ experience and prepare therapy students for what is expected of them on completion of their qualification.

“In the current spa recruitment climate, spas should be encouraged to work with local collages to help shape and grow talent from grass roots” Alexandra continues… “By heavily investing your time with educational centres it provides an opportunity to shape better quality therapists, with realistic expectations.  Our endorsement programme provides the continuity for therapists to have a relationship with the spa through visits to the college and to the spa itself. This then cultivates passion within students to work in the spa and wellness industry for the greater good”.

Weavers’ House Spa is nestled into the historic woollen town of Lavenham in Suffolk.  Opening in 2015 Weavers’ won ‘Best Spa for Serenity’ from the Good Spa Guide, and continues to hold it’s 5 bubble rating since opening.  This bijou boutique spa has a selection of wellness based hands on treatments from Temple Spa, Tribe517, along with signature house treatments.  Weavers’ prides itself on being your home from home, comforting and welcoming members, guests and visitors this 6-treatment room luxury spa focuses heavily on ‘the details’ from it’s welcome to it’s farewell.
